Traditional Irish Soda Bread
Irish soda bread dates back to the 19th century when farming families would bake it to share with dinner. Instead of using yeast, this bread uses baking soda and buttermilk. This delicious Irish treat is dense and tender, with a soft inside and hard outer crust. We fold raisins into our dough for bursts of sweetness. Irish soda bread tastes delicious when toasted and buttered, and pairs well with corned beef and cabbage – a traditional Irish meal.
